To the Ends of the Earth

Ever heard one of these comments? Ever said or thought one of these comments?

  • "Why give so much to other countries when we have so many in need here?"
  • "Why are we sending so much aid to Haiti while we still have so many suffering in Louisiana?"
  • "Why are we so worried about hunger in Africa, while we have so many homeless and hungry in our own town?"

This is an extremely common debate in America. Honestly, those are reasonable debates. I know there have been moments where I have thought these same thoughts. However, In Acts 1:6, Jesus said:
"...and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth."

He said reach to the ends of the Earth. Did he say not to reach those near you at the same time? Quite frankly, why can't we do both?

This is the answer I have came up with.

Do whatever God is telling you to do. If he has instilled a passion for Africa in you, help in Africa. If he has instilled a passion for reaching out to a local college group or apartment complex, do that. What ever you do, do it with Passion, Passion for Christ! Regardless of who you reach out to, know you are reaching out to one of God's own. Who you reach out to, is between you and God. You are not limited to one person, group, or country. You just have to reach, it is not optional.
