What Could Have Been

My sweet baby, Jacob Solomon is a miracle! With God's Grace and many, many hours or prayer he is happy and healthy today. A couple months ago, we were not sure that would be the case. Jacob's head is very large. His head is significantly past the 100% and continues to grow. His pediatrician was extremely concerned and sent him to Baptist for testing and to see a Neurologist/Neurosurgeon. At the rate his head was growing, we were afraid he had fluid collecting in his brain. Found out, he does have a significant amount of fluid collecting, but it is not in his brain. He has a benign enlargement of the subarachnoid spaces of infancy. That means, he has a lot of fluid, but as of right now it is not hurting his brain, so he can live with it for now.  In the mean time, he will go for monthly check-ups to monitor the rate of his growth. In the two and half weeks between his visit to the specialist and his first one month check-up, his head had grown 1.25 inches. That is a lot, but until we see a reason to worry, we will just let him grow and watch his development closely.

(I wish I had talked to more friends about this. We did talk to our Sunday School Class and Church Family about this openly and were surviving 100% on prayer. It was very difficult to talk about. I wanted to call you Amanda, but I have just felt so out of the loop with our old KCS gang lately, I didn't know where to start.)
